Bennie Farrel Major, 87 of Sweetwater (Independence), LA  passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 6 am. He was always an early riser and his death was no exception; he rose early to meet God in heaven. Bennie was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. Church was a very important part of his life.

Family left with so many fond memories are his son Todd Major, daughter Lisa Pohl, husband James, daughter Kerri Gamso, husband Vance and grandchildren: Cody and Trevor Simpson, Sadie Prevost,  three step-children and numerous step-grandchildren, sister Jeanette Bennett and brother JD Major. He was preceded in death by his wife Josie (1986), 2nd wife Marlene (2021) two step-children, parents Dorty and Leona Major, brother Willis Major and sister Marion Jenkins.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at Oak Grove Church of Christ at 16693 LA-40, Independence, LA Friday July 14, 2023 from 10 am to 12 pm with services at 12 pm. Interment to follow at Loranger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Bennie was an avid supporter since his wife Josie passed due to cancer.
