A resident of Denham Springs, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born December 1, 1946 in Amite, LA and was 78 years of age. He graduated from Amite High School in 1964 and graduated from Southeastern in 1968 where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He retired from the Louisiana Board of Regents with 27 years of service and worked for the state for 33 1/2 years altogether. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann McCoy; 3 sons, David McCoy and wife, Renee, Derek McCoy and wife, Shirley, and Robbie McCoy; 3 grandchildren, Madeline McCoy, Patrick McCoy, and Evangeline McCoy; sister, Becky McCoy Decker and husband, Carl; niece, Kerri Decker; nephew, Ryan Decker; great-niece, Aurora Guzman-Decker. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtie McCoy; brother, James Michael McCoy. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 11:00AM until Religious Services at 1:00PM on Friday.
