Obituary

Dixie Duncan Smith, 81, was ushered into the presence of her precious Savior, Jesus, on Saturday, September 3, 2022. She loved the Lord deeply, was a powerful intercessor, and worshiped Him with every breath she took. Dixie cherished time spent with her family. She was a mighty woman of faith, humble in nature, and friend to many. Dixie retired from the state after 30 years of service. She is survived by her daughter, Janice McNabb and husband, Tommy; Step son, Allen and wife, Janice Lynn; Sisters, Daisy Tarver and Bonnie Whetstone; Grandchildren, Allison Cutrer (Ben), Amanda Leto (David Jr.), Jamie Ward (Tim), and Emily Brumley (Beau); Great grandchildren, Hayden, Hudson, and Harrison Cutrer; Brantley, Brady, and Wrenley Grace Leto; Ella Ward; and Hallie Kate Brumley. Honorable mention, loving cousin, Jimmie Frazier. Preceded in death by her husband, Joe Smith; parents, Carolus and Mamie Duncan; brothers, Donald, Clyde, George, and J.M. Duncan, and Junior Lebo; Sister, Eunice McElveen. Services will be held at House on the Rock Church with visitation at 10am and service at 1pm on Monday, September 5, 2022. Ministers Luke Walters and Jeff McKneely will officiate. Graveside and interment will be held at Days United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers David Leto, Jr., Beau Brumley, Ben Cutrer, Tim Ward, Chris Landry, and Randall Landry. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
