A resident of Amite, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his home. He was born September 17, 1937 in New Orleans, LA and was 86 years of age. He was a loving husband, father and active community leader.  He was the former President of Kiwanis Club of Amite, Board member of Louisiana Dealer Services, former president of Louisiana Auto Dealers Association, Former Board member of Hood Memorial Hospital. He was a member and also former Chairman of the finance Committee at First United Methodist Church of Amite. Buck was a Navy Veteran and Lieutenant of the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan Juniel Cefalu; daughter, Cameron Cefalu Simmons and husband, David; son, August Earle "Trey" Cefalu, III and wife, Amber; 4 grandchildren, Sophia Simmons, Tristan Simmons, Maxwell Cefalu, and August Earle "Gus" Cefalu, IV; 3 sisters, Mary Helen Cefalu Lokey, Kathy Cefalu, and Martha Lee Cefalu Palotta; first cousin, Tom Ed Brumfield. Preceded in death by his parents, August Earle Cefalu, Sr. and Ruth Myers Cefalu; daughter, Cynthia Cefalu. Visitation at First United Methodist Church of Amite from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Services conducted by Rev. Brady Whitton.
