Eugene A. Rodriguez, age 88, a native of Independence, Louisiana, and long-time resident of New Orleans/Ponchatoula, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He left Independence to serve in the Army for four years. During his service he traveled internationally and often told stories regarding time spent in Japan. It was at the end of his service that he met his true love and soon married. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum until he retired in 1984. He loved to travel, listen to old country music, casinos, and was an avid repairman/mechanic and could fix anything and everything. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking, laughing, eating, and drinking coffee in his recliner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret, and his daughters Helen Ingolia (Roy) and Carol Rodriguez. His granddaughters, Ashley Ingolia and Amber Ingolia. One brother, Henry "Junior" Rodriguez (Delores), and two sisters, Vinnie Gatlin and Joyce Farmer. He had a loving sister-in-law, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Josephine Rodriguez, and brothers, Joseph, George, Charlie, and Bobby Rodriguez.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at McKneely Funeral Home on 110 E. Factory St, Amite, LA 70422, beginning at 9 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m. Eugene will be laid to rest in Colonial Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
