A resident of Amite, LA, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Baton Rouge General Hospice ward in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born November 20, 1942 in Baton Rouge, LA and was 83 years of age. He was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Papa. Gerald was a Private in the US Army Reserves. He retired from Exxon Chemicals of Baton Rouge as a furnace technician and supervisor. Gerald supplemented his income by working part-time building residential homes, and he built seven new homes that he shared with his wife Brenda over fifty year. After retirement, Gerald worked full-time as a contractor building residential homes. Gerald is survived by his two children, Todd Hayden and wife, Kathy, and Jill Romero and husband, Billy Joe; grandchildren, Zachary Hayden, Gabriel Hayden, Dominic Lawless, and Addie Lawless; and a great-grandson, Andrew Hayden. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Fiegler Hayden, his brother, Donald Hayden, and his parents Percy and Mildred Hayden. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
