Harold "Ray" Smith

A resident of Greensburg, LA, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was born March 6, 1945 in Clinton, LA and was 81 years of age. He was a 1963 graduate of Greensburg High School. Mr. Ray was a dairyman and also worked for DEMCO for 32 years as well as Bill Hood for 17 years. He served 4 years on the St. Helena Parish Police Jury, was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Greensburg, and a member of the Jaycees in Greensburg. Mr. Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Whittington Smith; son, Michael Ray Smith (Judy); daughter, Kelli Lynn Smith Ellis (Shannon); son-in-law, Colin Bamber; grandchildren, Devin Chase Bonaventure (Lilly), Keaton Clay Ellis, and Emma Rae Ellis; great-grandchildren, Chase Ray Bonaventure, Karsyn Taber, and Kamron Taber; brothers-in-law, John, Sonny, and Homer Parish; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Parish Bryant (John) and Mary Anne Parish Newman; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored and loved their uncle. Preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Renee Smith Bamber; parents, Irene K. Easley and Harvey Smith; 3 brothers, Matthew Smith, Albert Smith, and Alvin Venable; and 4 sisters, Geraldine Venable Brown, Louise Venable Alford, Nannie Mae Smith Womack, and Eloise Smith McNabb; mother-in-law, Doris C. Parish; and father-in-law, L. C. Whittington. Visitation at First Baptist Church, Greensburg, from 9:00AM until Religious Services at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Services conducted by Rev. Shawn Ostoj. Interment Day's Cemetery, Greensburg, LA. Pallbearers will be John Bryant, Shannon Ellis, Keaton Ellis, Devin Bonaventure, Colin Bamber, Damien Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Carter, Barrett Travis, Chase Bonaventure, Kirk Gillis, Willie Tate, and Willard Easley.
