A resident of Amite, LA, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at The Crossing of Baton Rouge in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born October 4, 1930 in Amite, LA and was 93 years of age. She graduated from Chesbrough High School. Her career started at Rexall Pharmacy and she later retired from Hammond Developmental Center after 25 years. A longtime active member of Kedron Baptist Church, she served and was active in the WMU. She oversaw many meals for grieving families after the loss of a loved one. Henrietta was active in her Sunday school class and after retirement, served on the board of the St. Helena Parish Hospital. In her later years she attended Amite Baptist Church with her daughter Beth and her family and enjoyed the Ladies' Joy Sunday school class. She is survived by 3 children, Beth Jordan (Wayne), Joey McCoy (Sonya), and Caro Smith; 9 grandchildren, Whittany Starns (Kevin), Evan Jordan (Taylor), Amy Sweat (Rodney), Robyn Smith (Ben), Brooke Roncancio (Edgar) Trey, Christian, McCoy and Gabby Smith; 3 step-grandchildren, George Jordan, Chris Jordan, and Aimee Stafford; 9 great-grandchildren, Nolen, Etta Jane, Andi, Grady, Olli Kate, Ryne, Remi, Carson, and Myles; 1 brother, Derwood Smith (Carolyn); and sister-in-law, Mamie Smith. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. "Sonny" McCoy; parents, Chester and Vernie Smith;1 son-in-law, Ronny Smith; 1 brother, Charles H. Smith; 2 sisters, Velma Warren and Norma Jean Bel. Visitation at Kedron Baptist Church from 1:00PM until religious services at 3:00PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Services conducted by Scott Alford. Interment Roberts Cemetery, Amite, LA. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack "Catfish" Granger and Scott Gay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to Kedron Baptist Church. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
