Obituary

John Phillip Lupo, 83, passed away at his home in Hammond, La on March 1, 2023. John was the son of Peter and Rosa Lupo, born on April 14, 1939, in Amite, La. He was a graduate of Amite High School, the class of 1958, and soon after graduating, met his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia Courtney Lupo. John loved the outdoors and playing the guitar and spent as much of his free time as he could doing the kinds of activities that brought him close to them. Hunting, fishing, home gardening and home maintenance, horseback and motorcycle riding to name a few. John also loved tinkering in his workshop, making everything from treasured keepsakes for his granddaughter, like two completely handcrafted fully furnished dollhouses, to countless "John inspired handyman innovations". John also loved the travel that came with extensive opportunities to visit his daughters and their families while they lived in several different states over the years. John spent most of his 30+ years as a manager in the Jewelry Industry helping couples take their first big step toward marriage and celebrating other major life events. His career included stints at Antin Jewelers, Wilsons and James Laird Jewelers, with a brief detour as the owner of Darlington Grocery Store, concluding with a few years in the hardware business sharing his knowledge and knack for practical solutions just prior to his retirement in Hammond, La. John is survived by his wife Patricia "Pat" Lupo of Hammond, La., three sisters Mary Hyde, Josephine Stevens, Frances Durio, daughters Lisa Lupo Zeringue (Steven) of Baton Rouge, La., Carrie Lupo of Hammond, La. and granddaughter Catherine Zeringue of Zachary, La. (fiancé Jordan Logan). John was preceded in death by his two loving parents Peter and Rosa Lupo and seven siblings.
