A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Covington, LA. He was born January 9, 1937 in New Orleans, LA and was 87 years of age. He served in the US Army from 1955-1958 and retired as a dedicated law enforcement officer and detective with Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a devoted family man who cared deeply for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Perez Romig; 6 grandchildren, Joseph L. Perez, Gabrielle Romig Lloyd, Scott P. Perez, Eric D. Romig, Phillip E. Romig and Leaman M. Romig, Jr.; 7 great-grandchildren, Joseph W. Perez, Ryder C. Perez, Cate C. Lloyd, Adalee M. Romig, Luke J. Lloyd, Christian J. Romig, and Vivienne L. Romig. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Perez and Lucy Perez; wife, Earllea H. Perez; son, Joseph Perez, III; grandson, Christian J. Romig; sisters, Elizabeth Blakeman, Lucy Lintinger, and Joan Styron. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 10:00AM until religious services at 12:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
