A resident of Independence, LA, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his home. He was born December 27, 1934 in Independence, LA and was 90 years of age. He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 thru 1957 during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Matilda B. Patanella; sons, Joseph M. Patanella (Jeanette) and Ronald W. Patanella (Lisa); 4 grandchildren, Amanda Patanella, Jessica Hung (Zack), Joseph Patanella, Jr. (Sarah), and Dusty Patanella; and 4 great-grandchildren, Aubree Patanella, Connor Hooks, Layla Hooks, and Hank Patanella. Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Frances Patanella; brother, Frank Patanella; sister, Rose P. Liuzza; son, Terry L. Walters. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 8:30AM until 11:40AM with Funeral Mass to follow at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 12:00 Noon.
