Robert "Bob" Elie, Sr. was born in Portland, Maine on August 27, 1934. He joined the U. S. Navy at the age of 17. After his service duty, he lived in New Orleans where he met the love of his life, Lillie. They were married for 58 years. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, and visiting friends...frequently combining all of those activities. Later in life, Bob was a pet supply salesman, and he eventually owned his own pet supply business. Bob could be considered a jack of all trades. He could fix anything, or at least thought he could and he certainly tried. It could be said that Bob truly never met a stranger. He totally enjoyed the company of others. That was obvious when he sat around the "Round Table" at Chris's Seafood restaurant in Loranger, LA visiting with friends while having coffee. Bob remained active and "social" throughout his entire 90 years of life. He passed away peacefully at his home. He is survived by his recent wife Jean, 4 daughters, Wanda Recile (Anthony), Sharon Lee (Ricky), Gracie Colona (Mark), Pam Hamilton (David), his only son, Bobby Elie; Kathy Shockley and Frances Catalanotto, who were like daughters; grandchildren, Dan Lee (Robin), Clint Lee, Mark Colona, Jr. (Amber), Mindy Rivers (Ryan Sr.), Megan Colona, Kassie Newell (Sam) David Hamilton, Jr. (Madison), Ellie Hamilton, Rob Hamilton and Kristy Preston (Bryce); great-grandchildren, Kelsey Varisco (Rudy), Kaylin Armstrong (Tanner), Kade Lee, Luke Colona (Kai Lynne), Lexie Colona, Pete Trapen, Ryan Rivers Jr., Layne Rivers, Noah Rivers, Lilleigh Newell, Banks Hamilton, Lake Hamilton, Dawson Colona, Kowen Colona, Grason Foy, Presley Preston, Tucker Preston and Tycer Preston; great-great-grandchildren, Easton Colona  and Daniel Varisco; sister, Betty Sturgis (Buddy). Preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Gates Elie; and brother, Randall Bradley. Pallbearers will be Dan Lee, Clint Lee, Rob Hamilton, Luke Colona, Ryan Rivers Jr., Layne Rivers, Noah Rivers, Kade Lee, Dawson Colona, Kowen Colona, and Pete Trapen. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9:30AM until Religious Services at 11:30AM on Tuesday. Services conducted by David Hamilton, Sr. Interment New Sharon Cemetery, Husser, LA.
