Susie Myrl Jacobsen "Aunt Sue"of Independence, passed away at 91 years old on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born in Independence to Myrl Jacobsen "Papa Jake" and Ruby Carney Jacobsen "Momo" on November 29, 1932. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She worked at Greenwell Springs Hospital and retired after 30 years. Although she didn't have children, she was Aunt Sue to everyone she met and like a grandmother to most of us. After she retired, she spent a lot of time tending to all her nieces and nephews from picking children up from school, taking them on field trips, vacations, buying things the parents thought they didn't need, and helping anyway she could. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was survived by 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 great nieces, 4 great nephews, 5 great great nieces, and 2 great great nephews and many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruby Lee Johnson and her husband, Luther Johnson, and Annette Vicknair; niece, Shyral LaMarca and nephew, AJ LaMarca, great niece, Madison Peco. Visitation will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 8:00am until religious services at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Services conducted by Rev. Cecil Burch.
