A resident of Amite, LA, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his home. He was born April 5, 1947 in Biloxi, MS and was 78 years of age. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and a retiree from AT&T/ Bell South.  He is survived by his daughter, Desiree Schellinger and husband, Robert; son, Derek Alfonso; 3 grandchildren, Aidan Schellinger, Chloe Schellinger, and Mason Schellinger; 2 brothers, Glenn Alfonso and wife, Debbie, and Cornell Alfonso; 4 sisters, Dianne Alfonso, Carmelita Abreu, Cynthia Giroir and husband, Scott, and Darnell Alfonso Sondes. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter (Nayko) and Pauline Alfonso; wife, Carolyn Alfonso.  Memorial Services will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 11:00AM at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.  McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
