A resident of Amite passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at her home. She was born November 15, 1930 in Springville, LA  and was 86 years of age. She worked in medical records at Hood Memorial Hospital and Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center and retired from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in 1996. She was an avid gardener, member of the Stem and Stamen Garden Club and chaired the Cleanest City Contest. She loved to cook and entertain her friends and family. She was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church and chaired one of their bereavement committees. She was on the Amite Oyster Gala Board and served as the Amite Oyster Pearl in 2002. She is survived by her son, Parker C. "Chuck" Gabriel, Jr. and wife, Becki; her daughter, Suzie Gabriel Saint and husband, Steve; 5 grandchildren, Tina G. Doughty and husband, Jason, Shelley S. Wright, Ann S. Mooney and husband, Tim, Parker C. "Charlie" Gabriel, III, Russell G. "Russ" Sanders; 5 great grandchildren, Jordan LeMoine, Jason Todd Doughty, Katelyn M. Wright, Parker C. Doughty, and Gabriel P. Sanders; step-great-grandson, T.J. Mooney; great-great-grandson, Slayden Bravender; 3 siblings, Sylvia Sanchez, Carol Whittington and husband, Robert, and Al Guitrau and wife, Mary Ann; special friends, Louise Forrest, Annagene and Larry Mobley, Allie Hyde, Becki Fortenberry, Linda Nichols and many friends, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Parker C. Gabriel, Sr.; daughter, Sharon A. Gabriel; parents, Edgar and Catherine Brown Guitrau; 2 grandchildren, Clay and Christian Gabriel; siblings, Edgar Guitrau, Jr., Katherine Allen,  Jimmie Harrold, Bunny Williams, and  Terry Palmer. Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church Hall from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helena Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Services conducted by Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite, LA.
